Dear School Administrators,
Over the last two weeks, West Side United has admired how Chicago’s residents have rallied together to recognize Teacher’s Appreciation Week and Mother’s Day. We hope that you and your school community have been able to celebrate with those who are dearest to you.
On behalf of West Side United, I’m reaching out to offer a few updates on the School-Based Community Hub initiative.
As mentioned in our last communication, our initial timeline for the school-based community hub application has been delayed due to the unforeseen COVID-19 crisis. We are hopeful that we will be able to move forward in the selection process in June. Until then, West Side United staff will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
I would also like to introduce you to LeShonne W. Segura who will work closely with the West Side United team to support the implementation of the multi-service community hub model. Before joining West Side United, LeShonne served as the Manager, Program Investments at The Chicago Public Education Fund. LeShonne has also served as a teacher and director at two schools in Chicago’s West Side.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at tjones@westsideunited.org or LeShonne W. Segura, at lsegura@westsideunitied.org. In the meantime, please consider following us on Facebook or subscribe to our newsletter to stay connected!
Thank you again for your patience as we navigate through these uncertain times.
Stay healthy and well!
Tenisha Jones
